01 Nov Custom Full Stainless Steel Exhaust
Even though we are in Chicago, Fluid MotorUnion is showing a little love for Detroit this week, as we’ve started fabricating a custom full stainless steel exhaust for a C6 Chevrolet Corvette.
This specific Corvette has been to our shop once before when we custom tuned it on the dyno and managed to coax out an extra 25 horsepower. We also painted the calipers blue and added a new front bumper for it. But while 25 horsepower is a good gain, once you start increasing the power, you get the itch. And nothing scratche that itch like the roar from a custom stainless steel exhaust from the headers all the way back to the bumper.
Uninstalling the exhaust gave us a good look at a side of the Corvette that’s rarely noticed, unless the driver managed to end up flipped over in a ditch. Thankfully, we managed to get a look at its underside without all the unnecessary crashing. After removing the stock mufflers, we noticed that there is a hell of a lot of room back there. We were briefly considering installing Tom the fabricator under the rear bumper, where he would just make exhaust noises with his mouth. It’s a less costly install that way, but the tradeoff is having to constantly feed him. Since even we don’t want to do that, we just assumed the Corvette owner would agree, so we decided upon a more conventional route.

I’m particularly glad that you were able to get the stock exhausts off without too much problem. After all, there is nothing more annoying then those things wanting to stay in place while you’re trying to do a project.
