Farewell Friday

Farewell Friday

Today, we once again bid a fond farewell to a couple cars that have graced our presence recently.

First is Chuck’s E82. Originally, he came in with a different tune, which needed to be removed for a trip to the dealership. Once he returned, however, he decided to go with our tune in lieu of the previous one. How will it end up? Only time (and Chuck) will tell, but more will be coming on this soon!

Next up, we have a Cadillac that may be older than some readers’ parents. Coming from the 60’s, as all good things do, this Cadillac never really stuck around; it came in for a little bit and left, but it still warrants a farewell. It looks exactly as rugged and old-school as the pictures suggest. If anything, the rust and paint flecks only serve to give this car more character. Even the fedora on the dashboard and the stack of 1965 Popular Mechanics in the back seat suggest that there’s a good story rolling around with this Caddy. We wish it farewell for now, but perhaps it will return!

Coming in at the penultimate position for a farewell is this Aston Martin V8 Vantage. It ran through the shop yesterday evening for a quick A/C recharge; the lighting wasn’t primo, but we managed to snag a couple shots. Hopefully we’ll be seeing this one again quite soon; Astons (and British cars in general) are rare to see in Chicago, so it’s always a treat when they roll through the shop.

Finally, we have an actual and proper farewell to give. Eric’s E38 is finally headed out to his new digs in Seattle, and we just finished clearing up the emissions readiness, followed by a wash and detail before setting sail. The supercharger kit underneath the hood is all but invisible, until you see this massive sedan fly by you in a flash of black and with an exhaust growl you wouldn’t expect from a proper sleeper such as this. It was a pleasure, and we hope it enjoys a hassle-free life out in the Pacific Northwest. In the meantime, we still have Eric’s Z4M to work on, so we plan on sending even more insanity to the West Coast sooner than later.
