Catching Up

Even though we went through a post-less period of a month or so, there was plenty of photo documentation during that time. Here’s a little bit of background on what we’ve been up to:

Much of the last month has been spent preparing for the trip to the Middle East. For almost three weeks straight, the Fluid crew spent their days (and many of their nights) fabricating, installing and dyno-testing their kit for the SL65 AMG. Without giving too much information away, as a full write-up will commence upon OJ and Craig’s return from Kuwait, the new parts included custom airboxes, intercoolers and a couple other goodies. Here’s two teaser shots of the successful install on the stateside SL:

The install added a decent amount of horsepower to the AMG’s already-powerful twin-turbo V12. The torque was beefed up as well, and if it weren’t for the torque limiter’s task of saving the transmission, pressing down on the gas pedal may indeed alter the spin of the earth. There would be some dyno graphs to back this up, as we all love concrete proof of such a task, but our dyno’s computer crashed shortly after all the stateside testing completed, taking all of our previous charts to a mass electronic grave. Regardless, the gains were impressive, and we’re looking forward to getting some hard evidence up for all to see.

If you think it couldn’t get any better than that, think again. As mentioned yesterday, OJ and Craig are out in the Middle East, doing this exact same addition (plus a new ADV1 wheel package and some exhaust modification) to a client’s Brabus SL65 T65S, a car that’s already a beautiful specimen of balls-to-the-wall German engineering. There are some more pictures up on our Facebook, but here’s a couple shots exclusive to the FMU blog:
