Snow? What Snow?

Snow? What Snow?

The trek to work was slow, but still moving. It’s a testament to the determination of the people of Chicagoland to keep life moving at its normally fast pace. We are no exception.

Now that the obligatory comments about the blizzard have come and gone, we can discuss shop matters. Today is just another day of powering forward at Fluid. Both fabrication and service are working themselves across multiple assignments in order to keep up the pace. And as a result, there’s plenty of things happening.

Fab’s got a good number of things happening today, all at the same time. For starters, the Porsche (whose wheels were widened) has been moved to a lift on the fab side; its mufflers provide a nice sound, but it could be nicer. So, the owner opted for a set of Eisenmann mufflers to replace the stock units. In the pictures, the first set of exhausts (with the rectangular tip) are the stock Porsche mufflers, with the Eisenmanns (and their dual-tip setup) on display directly thereafter.

Also, Eastway’s installing a WOT Box on the RS6, which will give us a good system for setting up a launch control. The main function of the WOT Box is exactly that; it attaches into the wiring harness to control spark under certain conditions, allowing its built-in 2-step launch control to be utilized in bringing the RS6’s engine up to full boost before even leaving a standstill. Here’s a quick shot of the wiring harness mess that Eastway has been splicing and soldering this morning:

And lastly, the production of the RS6 intakes continues forward, as Tom and Craig have finished their jig, allowing us to build the intakes to exact specifications, ensuring fitment while not needing the project RS6’s engine bay for test-fitment (so we can start running tests on the oil and transmission coolers):

All in all, it’s just another busy day. You should all pay real close attention to our blog tomorrow, when we unveil the first video teaser of the X5 project! It will certainly send shivers down your spine (or maybe fireballs, instead of shivers).
