Project Updates: RS6 and X5

Project Updates: RS6 and X5

Yes, yes, we’ve finally broken the moratorium on X5 coverage.

However, it’s merely a teaser. And we won’t even show it until the end of the post. But fear not! We’re almost there.

First things first, though. In terms of the RS6, it’s currently being put through its paces as a test mule for our new RS6 intake design. We tweaked some things from the original design in order to make things fit better, look nicer and improve overall performance. We’re currently putting together five copies for a group buy through RS6.com’s forums. Eastway’s been cutting like crazy, and welding should commence quite soon. Here’s a shot of AJ’s rendering, followed by our prototype copy installed on our project RS6, followed by the cut bits of aluminum.

And now, the moment you’ve all been waiting for…

You can probably guess what’s about to go down with our urban assault vehicle:

It’s pretty obvious that things are moving along with Project X. After the paint dries, it’s just a matter of reinstalling several things and then it’s time for a proper photo shoot! Stick around, the wheels are in motion and show no plans of stopping!

Did you lift the X5 any to fit those tires? Are those 33″ tires on 16″ rims? Very cool, thanks for taking this on.

Yes, we did lift the X5 with a custom designed lift kit. And those tires, I’m not sure of the total diameter including sidewall, but the wheel diameter is 17.”
