Folding To Pressure

And the saga of the RS6 continues in today’s blog post!

We last left off with the new turbos being attached, and the new downpipes being made for the turbos. Once everything was put back together, we did a quick smoke test to make sure we covered all our bases. Welp, it turns out the RS6’s turbo manifolds were starting to crack in their inner layer, necessitating a replacement. So we set about making another set of manifolds for the RS6’s built and blueprinted race-ready motor. We ended up going with another log-style manifold because, well, have you seen the engine bay? There’s no room in there for equal-length zipties, nonetheless equal-length manifolds. So after some cutting and some argon back-purged welding, we came up with a set.

Featuring short runners that empty into a larger log, much like every other style of log manifold, this is the most amount of manifold that can be fitted in the RS6’s extremely tight clearances. Now that the fun description is over, let’s take a look at some pictures of welds!
