I’m very happy with Fluid MotorUnion.  Turns out they not only work on high-end imports, but they successfully removed the spark plugs out of my 2004 Ford F-150.

Might not sound difficult…but they are notorious for breaking in the engine.

“So this past Sunday me and two buddies were driving back to Utah from San Diego, where we had been for the weekend. In between Las Vegas and St. George, UT, which is basically a huge desert in the middle of nowhere, my idler pulley breaks, so of course the belts come loose. We pull off, call AAA, they send out a tow truck. We were gonna have him take us to St. George, where I would have spent the night and then tried to find a place to fix my car the next day, which was about 75 miles from where we broke down. There was another car that had some problems that was just six miles up the road and had also called AAA, so the tow guy stopped by to see if that driver needed a ride or whatever, cuz he was gonna have to come back for his car after he dropped us off. So we pull up to where this other car was, and there are three bimmers (an M roadster, a 7, and an E90 M3). Turns out that they actually own a shop in Chicago that specializes in BMW repair and custom fab called Fluid MotorUnion. I told them what had happened to mine and they were like “We can fix that.” They busted out the tools and cannibalized the pulley and belt off the M roadster and my car was running again in twenty minutes. I offered to pay them but they wouldn’t take anything. Their whole crew was super chill and knew exactly what they were doing. You can check out some of their work at www.fluidmotorunion.com. “Let the guys know their work paid off for me. I gained 3 of the 9 seconds a Porsche Carrera beat me at the last race (I need new tires, dry conditions and more time in the seat but I think I’ll eventually beat him) and I easily beat a M-B CLS 55 AMG by 3 seconds. This thing has a 5.4L supercharged V-8 with 480hp and the guy even had a set of track tires. If you calculate back to the crank my M5 is probably now 440hp but with the open exhaust and tune the power is obviously more available and smoother. I even got a compliment on the sound at WOT on the final straightaway; a lot of cars are loud but few sound good.” – Gary Mettus

“Today’s experience at FMU was one of my best at any tuner shop I have been to, and coming from a background of tuner cars and dealing with a lot of shops in my day that is pretty impressive. I can’t even start to explain how much attention to detail Craig (one of the owners) put in my car, this proved to me that quality work still exists in a tuner shop and FMU is the shop that will be helping me build one of the craziest SL55s in the midwest. OJ (one of the owners) was extremely nice and got involved in the install along with Craig to make the car flow at the coolest temps possible, witnessing this showed me that slapping what I wanted on the car was not the end of the road for these great business owners. “Fluid MotorUnion definitely has a lot to offer, and is by far the best place that I’ve dealt with so far. They’re a reasonably priced and reliable place where you can get anything done, depending on your needs. What I really appreciate is the fact that they are honest, they appreciate and treat the client with respect, and are flexible to your needs. This shop doesn’t just throw the expensive parts in your car; instead, they will investigate carefully and proceed to fix the issue. Before, I lived close by, but recently I moved 40 miles away. I still drive this distance to get my car fixed there, as it is well worth it. If you are into motorcycles, there is also a motorcycle mechanic if you need your two wheels fixed. Dyno tuning is available, and if you wish to wait while your car is being fixed, you can watch movies or play games on their Xbox – how cool is that?! I also did a lot of updating via e-mail with Marilynn during the process of repair, which was super convinient. Great shop to get your car fixed. Special thanks to OJ, who took the time to explain to me in detail what was up with my issue. Way to go, guys. Look up their shop online and you will see yourself.”
