Boxed Up

Boxed Up

Remember that oddly shaped structure we featured last week? Well, wonder no longer, we’ve finished the rest of it.

The last piece of the puzzle required before we could start welding together the airbox was the massive velocity stack, which would channel air from the box into the intake manifold. Obviously, a stack of this magnitude isn’t much different from our normally sized velocity stacks, with one exception — it’s quite large, and therefore took a bit more time on the mill. Well, time’s passed, so now it’s complete. Here is the stack and the wall of the box to which we connected it:

After a bit of welding, the box was completed. And here it is, in all its goofy-shape glory:

Thanks to size constraints in the engine bay, it’s not the largest box on the planet, but it should function perfectly where it will soon sit. As always, the welds are the perfect mix of function and form, as evidenced by this next set of pictures:

We’re looking forward to slapping this puppy into the Trailblazer SS soon; for now, though, there’s still plenty of other work to be done!
