You may have heard that Mike Burroughs came through Chicago this past weekend. Before that, we wanted to spruce up his engine bay a tad.

His car originally swung through the shop for a running issue, which we figured out had to do with the VANOS unit. Once that was done, we looked at the stack setup we originally made for his motor and realized it was a bit, um, dated, both in terms of the design and the metal itself. So we went about fashioning a couple upgrades to his engine bay, starting with a new catch can. The new one is much bigger and fits in a much nicer place in the engine bay. As always, we were there to witness the welding, and oh my goodness, aluminum this hot should be melting.

As we mentioned, we also took to the task of updating his stacks to our current velocity stack aesthetic. As opposed to a pronounced, rounded edge, Burroughs’ new stacks look just like the ones on the DCM3, Gold Wheels and the E90 – thin at the lip and held on with a single metal clamp. Cutting them took a little time, but installation went off without a hitch.

And here we have ’em! As always, they’re a striking addition to the S54, and should complement the catch can quite well, both of which you can see in the last two shots. As for the sound, well, you’ll have to take our word for it at the moment, but it sounds fantastic! Perhaps with his permission we can get some video for you folks…
